Kim began the philosophical practice of yoga in 1990 while working on her undergraduate degree at DePaul University. Upon graduation, she took up a more physical practice while attending Wild Onion Iyengar Yoga in Chicago. Kim later began a Vinyasa based practice under the guidance of Traci Pristas of Light Star Yoga, also in Chicago. In 1999 Kim began the practice of Ashtanga yoga under the guidance of Suddha Weixler of Chicago’s NU Yoga (now the Chicago Yoga Center). Afterwards, while doing graduate work at UCLA, Kim continued her Ashtanga practice under the guidance of Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty the founders of YogaWorks. After completing her teacher training with YogaWorks in 2003, Kim began teaching Vinyasa system classes at Mark Whitwell’s Heart of Yoga and Ashtanga based classes at UCLA’s John Wooden Center.
Kim offers strong, rhythmic and fun Ashtanga classes. While emphasizing breathing and
core alignment, students are encouraged to practice according to their own individual
needs. Students are guided through Ashtanga’s Primary Series that, with practice, result in strong, yet supple, bodies and subtle minds.
